The Superbowl Party was a blast, although I’m fairly certain I spent a vast majority of time snacking in the kitchen. My brother-n-law had a large variety of wings, veggies, chili, tacos, potato salad, mushrooms, fruit salad…you name it, it was present. Fortunately, I sipped on tea most of the night, so waking up this morning to make sausage balls, was a non issue. With plenty of meats still left from my meat bundle, sausage balls seemed like the way to go. I do have another sausage ball recipe posted, however that one is ‘all about the bacon’.
Sausage Cheddar Balls and Sauce
This recipe is simple.
Mix and form into a dough ball….that simple! How much you use is up to do. I used 2 lbs sausage, 1 1/2 c. Bisquick, about 1 c. cheddar, 1 egg, steak seasonings. and 1 TBS of Worcestershire sauce.
Add a couple inches of oil to a large pot and fry to a crisp golden brown, making sure the center is fully cooked.
1 can of tomato sauce
sweet peppers (or hot…whatever you prefer)
Dice garlic, onion, peppers and add to a small saucepan with the seasonings.
Simmer until veggies are tender.
As always, feel free to tweak. Fresh leeks and mushrooms would be amazing in the sauce. Happy Snacking!
